Resumen: 

En el presente trabajo se plantea la revisión de los mapas del Instituto Geográfico Nacional y del Principado de Asturias con el objetivo de comprobar el grado de fidelidad de la toponimia representada con respecto a la toponimia tradicional. Para ello se ha efectuado un estudio en un área situada en el entorno de Tuiza y Penubina. El análisis de la cartografía oficial revela múltiples errores en la denominación y ubicación de los topónimos y evidencia también la escasa densidad de
nombres representados, en contraste con la riqueza de la toponimia auténtica. Por todo ello, se propone una metodología para recoger sistemáticamente y representar la toponimia tradicional en una nueva cartografía, diseñada con el software QGIS. En ella se incluye un mayor número de topónimos, los cuales se sitúan con mayor exactitud geográfica y se denominan respetando las singularidades propias del habla local.

Abstract:

The present work seeks to revise the place names depicted in the maps of the National Geographic Institute and of the Principality of Asturias with the aim of verifying the fidelity of the represented toponimy in relation to the traditional toponimy. For this purpose, a study has been carried out in an area located in the surroundings of Tuiza and Penubina. The analysis of the official cartography reveals multiple errors in the denomination and location of the toponims, as well as the low density of names in contrast with the richness of the authentic toponimy. Therefore, a new methodology is proposed to systematically collect and represent traditional toponimy in a new cartography, designed with QGIS software. A greater number of toponims are included, which are placed with better geographical accuracy and named with greater respect for the peculiarities of the local language.
